The Offences And Their Punishment

Death By Careless Driving (under the influence of alcohol or drugs)

This will result in a disqualification for a minimum 12 month period and a re test and carries 10 years imprisonment, a fine, or both

Death By Dangerous Driving

This will carry a compulsary minimum disqualification of 12 months and re test and carries a maximum period of imprisonment of 10 years.

Drink Driving (Including Drugs)

This offence carries a minimum disqualification of 12 months or 36 months if previous offence up to 10 years beforehand. Maximum imprisonment for up to 6 months and/or fine up to £5000

Drunk In Charge

This carries endorsement of your licence with between 3 and 11 points, a discretionary disqualification and/or a fine of up to £5000 or 6 months imprisonment.

Dangerous Driving

This offence carries disqualification for a minimum 12 months followed by a re test. It also carries 6 months imprisonment in the Magistrates Court and 2 years maximum in the Crown Court.

Failure To Provide Road Side Breath Test

This carries a discretionary disqualification 4 penalty points and up to £1000 fine.

Failure To Provide Speciman For Anaysis.

This carries a minimum disqualification of 12 months or 36 months if there is a similar offence less that 10 years before, a fine up to £5000 and up to 6 months imprisonment.

All Speeding Offences

This offence carries in between 3 and 6 penalty points and a fine up to £1000. The Court also has the power to impose a disqualification usually where the excess speed is over 30mph.

Driving Without Due Care And Attention

This offence carries in between 3 and 9 penalty points, a fine up to £1000 and a discretionary disqualification.

Failure To Comply With Traffic Signs.

This offence carries 3 penalty points and a fine up to £1000 and a discretionary disqualification

Using A Vehicle In A Dangerous Condition

This offence carries 3 penalty points. It also carries a discretionary disqualification and a fine up to £2500 or £5000 if the vehicle is a goods vehicle or a passenger vehicle with more than 8 passengers

Using A Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

This offence carries between 6 and 8 penalty points, a fine up to £5000 and a discretionary disqualification.
